Introducing Station Peak Farm
For over a century, Station Peak has been a working farm in the heart of the Waitaki Valley near Kurow. It remains a bustling dairy farm to this day, with its stunning grounds now open to any who seek a haven of peace and connection in this nature-packed region of Canterbury.
Its crowning jewels are Station Peak Homestead and Walnut Cottage. Both residences marry rustic charm and modern luxury, with Station Peak Homestead welcoming guests year-round and Walnut Cottage acting as home for the farm’s passionate owners, Mike and Olivia Pavletich (Hi - that’s us!).
Meet Your Hosts
The farm has been passed down through the Pavletich family for four generations, and we’ve been at the helm for about 15 years. Mike grew up here, loving the history, lifestyle, and amazing natural surroundings. We’re so excited to be giving our crazy cool kids Sophia, Jack and Elise the same childhood experiences as their dad. When we’re not busy running the farm or looking after our guests at the homestead, our family is soaking up all the incredible adventure this unique area has to offer.
A Truly Grand Design
We’ve worked hard to maintain the original character and history of the property while bringing it into the 21st century. Station Peak Homestead has been fully updated with fresh paint, furnishings, and all the modern conveniences so our guests (that’s you!) can luxuriate in our natural surroundings, while still enjoying the best amenities.
In 2022-2023, our home, Walnut Cottage, received a full renovation. Mike has a lifetime of memories in this house, so it was really important to us to preserve that heritage and create a space that would both honour the past and look forward to the future. With the vision and support of architect Greg Miller, we welcomed the team from Grand Designs New Zealand and opened our home to the world so they could see every step of our renovation journey.
Sure, we could have built a new house on our 1300 hectares here at Station Peak, but we knew it was right to restore Mike’s childhood home. The result, we think, captures the essence and the history. It’s a really cool reminder for future generations of what we did here and what came before us.

Station Peak Farm is just 7 minutes from Kurow, a nature-packed adventure hub nestled in New Zealand’s picture-perfect South Island. The landscapes here are breathtaking, and the activities offer something for everyone.
